Weissberg Pop-Up Art Show

12:00 AM
Students for an Inclusive Campus, Voces, Black Students United, and Latinx Students United are hosting a pop-up art making and letter and postcard-writing campaign in Java Joint and the Library February 12, 2018 - March 9, 2018, in advance of the Weissberg Chair’s visit to add to the experience of the visit and to inspire action in students. Steven Hawkins is an advocate for challenging the Prison Industrial Complex that disproportionately impacts Black and Brown people. We want to challenge Beloit College students, staff, and faculty during this week to think about how they can commit to action around the same cause.

Employment Pathways for International Students

12:30 PM
International students have access to nearly all of the same employment and career development opportunities at Beloit College as all Beloit College students. Sometimes the paths to reach those opportunities are different, though. Join the Office of International Education, The Liberal Arts in Practice Center, and Human Resources for a joint session examining some of the critical issues related to hiring, supervising and advising students holding student visas on matters related to employment at Beloit and beyond. Topics to be addressed include:

Hiring international students for campus jobs
Legal considerations for employment in the United States
Supporting international students through career exploration

If you supervise international students in on-campus jobs or if you teach or advise students who are international, this session is for you! Bring your lunch and join us to talk about this important advising topic.

(HWC) Sex In The Dark: A glow-in-the-dark Discussion

7:00 PM
Join us, February 12th, at 7pm in Richardson Auditorium for a glow-in-the-dark conversation with our “sexpert” panelists, answering students’ anonymous questions about sex, hook-ups, relationships, sexual health and more!

The Health & Wellness Center considers sexperts to be members of the community who are knowledgeable in various aspects of sexual and reproductive health. This includes safe sex, contraception, reproductive anatomy, communication and consent, sexual behaviors, relationships, etc.

Students, submit your questions at by February 6th. QUESTIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED AHEAD OF TIME.

The goals of the event are to foster a sex-positive campus culture by providing student-friendly and medically accurate health information and promoting campus and community-based resources. We hope that students will be more informed about their sexual health, be better prepared to talk about sexual health issues with a partner and be more comfortable accessing sexual health resources on campus and in the community.
